Fire after Frankowski?
By: Sean | February 1st, 2008Word on the street is that our Fire are following up last year’s ultra-successful greybeard striker signing (the sadly immobile Señor Wanchope, now retired) with the Goal Fisher, Tomasz Frankowski, late of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He’s got class, finishes well with both feet, combines well. He’s scored goals by the hatful in several leagues in Europe. And he’s Polish, which makes more than just Poles happy – everyone who remembers Nowak in ‘98 gets all tingly. So, hooray Fire!
What’s that, you say? He scored exactly ZERO goals last season for noted Euro powerhouse Wolverhampton Wanderers? He’s 33 and coming off of serious knee surgery?
To all those nay-sayers, I submit the latest in riposte technology: The YouTube compilation video.
Now don’t you feel better, sad nay-sayer? Yes? No? Is this the move to get the Fire into international play? Or is this Wanchope Part 2 – Polish Boogaloo?
Whaddaya think?

I hope it works out, but after watching Wanchope limp around last season, they’d better give Frankowski a serious workout before committing to him. If he’s healthy, brilliant; if not, disaster.

I hope Frankowski returns to his 2006 WC qualifying form, he scored 7 goals in 383 minutes for Poland!!! If he’s healthy we’re talking possible Golden Boot and Supporters Shield this year.

@Luke: Frankowski is not in form, he didn’t play sins year ago. We in Poland hope that he will start scoring again in Chicago Fire, but i think he will never back to our national team.

I think he will recover in Chicago Fire. Get ready for some nice shoot’n dudes !! BTW: You even didn’t saw his goal against England. Maybe Janas didn’t saw it too because he refused to get Frankowski to Germany and I think that decision was totally wrong (Frankowski set’s many scores in way to Germany 2007).
