Photos from Fire-TFC

Still don’t have the time or energy for a decent match wrap. But basically, the Fire were deficient in almost every key area of the game – they did not play smart, they did not penetrate, they could not hold the ball up front, they did not play hard (Brown and Curtin excepted), they were not creative, they were exposed defensively. Maybe there isn’t even much else to say. Instead, below are a few pics from the game.

Firstly, I made sure Winston Churchill was prepared pregame:

Here’s just before kick-off, Fire fans with their flags, Toronto supporters noisy and colourful too:

And just before a free-kick comes in, notice the poor marking:

Toronto scores, and Canadians decided that throwing seat cushions on the field is fun:

Post-game, Fire fans disappointed but flags still held high:

After the game, the two opposing sets of fans face-off, but it’s mostly handbags at ten paces:

Finally, whatever happens, do not mess with big Jim (sorry for the quality, but this was a zoom from the other end of the pitch):

You Fire supporters are outstanding!!! and great pics, btw… I have to, as a TFC supporter, apologize for “the handbags at 10 paces, its nothing but a game guys.. but there are some TFC fans I’d like to see be traded away… haha.. . I went to the TFC opener in LA (vs ChivasUSA) and there were no scuffles, friendly taunts but thats to be expected… it was outstanding to be at an away game… I hope it doesn’t discourage another trip to T.O… I know I will be visiting the great city of Chicago on the July 7th… and look forward to this friendly rivalry for years to come…

Thanks, and definitely looking forward to the return fixture too. Be sure to stop by the Fire supporters’ tailgate before the game if you make it down to Chicago, and I’ll certainly make it up to Toronto again either in July or next season.
