Keep wearing red
By: Tom | May 16th, 2007It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Fire fans. Two defeats on the trot, including handing Toronto their first goals and win, and the daunting prospect of facing Dallas tomorrow without the man who has either scored or assisted on every single Fire goal this season: Chris Rolfe is doubtful for the game (which means it’s time for Justin Mapp to step-up). Hell, it even got us talking about firing our coach when we’re 3-1-2 for the season.
Listening to Pat Shay’s Fire podcast just now somehow cheered me, though. Despite the weird promo ads and the crackling sound, there’s something charming about Pat’s dulcet tones and his wry observations that makes this an essential 2-minute take on the Fire each week. It’s aptly named as a fireside chat: FDR would be jealous.

And as Pat says at the end this week: let’s get out to Toyota Park tomorrow night, and give the Fire strong support. It’s too much to expect a big crowd with the game occurring at the same time as the Bulls playoff game and on a weekday night, but the megabandanera will be out, and that’s reason enough to be there. Not to mention it’s the Brimstone Cup!
