How to patronise your fans in one easy step

By: Tom | April 23rd, 2007

Apparently, only one man in the building on Saturday really understood what was going on out there as the Fire beat the Wizards. And praise the lord, if it wasn’t the Fire coach himself, Mr. Dave Sarachan.

What everyone in this building won’t realize is the dirty running and the hard work that Chris Rolfe and Chad Barrett did tonight. That really paid off and helped us defensively. It made everybody’s life behind them a lot easier.

I think you would’ve had to have been a drunken MLS neophyte not to notice the two little buzzards covering every square inch of the field. Wait, I was that drunken MLS neophyte, and I still realized that. I guess that makes two of us then, Dave.

But since no-one else would have noticed, I will endeavour to get some video highlights up soon of Rolfe’s game. I’m glad to see my criticism of him last week paid-off, and he returned with a strong game today. Now, if only he and Mapp could both have a good game at the same time - that’d be scary.

“drunken MLS neophyte” I love it!!

Agreed. It sees that for the Fire, either Mapp is going to have a good game, or someone up front will have a good game, but never both.

That’s true tzimaki, and quite odd. Part of the reason Rolfe had to drop back so much was because Mapp wasn’t doing the job there, it seemed to me.

To be fair, Mapp did come off with a tight hamstring in the second half, and maybe it was bothering him all game - I don’t know.
