From the people that brought you the Brimstone Cup…
By: Tom | March 16th, 2007The Fire are in Oklahoma this weekend, where they’ll meet F.C. Dallas in the renowned Saturn Cup. OK, it’s not exactly got the prestige of the Anglo-Italian Cup or the World Series of Soccer as far as random meaningless tournaments go, but it’s still a cup. I guess.
Remember, even though the Fire are playing “Brimstone Cup rival FC Dallas”, this is the Saturn Cup, and not the Brimstone Cup, which is a whole different kettle of fish and a reminder of when Dallas were the Fire’s unquestioned most hated rival.
So anyway, the game takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday – anyone know if the Saturn Cup is televised?

Welcome to the Fire fan base. Being a huge fan of the EPL I hadn’t given much shrift to the MLS, but I, too, have resolved my ways. Even wrote about the Fire and MLS at my poorly attended blog: http://nineguysshort.blogspot.com/2007/02/new-season-new-fan.html
We’ll be checking it often for all my Fire news. Go Reds!

Dan – your post on your site is eerily similar to my own feelings. Looking forward to hearing more from you as the season gets under way.

Uh… ‘Scuse me? But that is the World Series of FOOTBALL, thank you very much. To show that we in the Galaxy are so hip and on top of things and TOTALLY on a par with the rest of the world.

Laurie, I stand corrected – obviously a World Series of Football makes so much more sense than a World Series of Soccer…That’d just be a marketing gimmick or something.

Tom – Will be talking lots to you throughout the season, hopefully. Enjoying the site already. Just vented about Blanco on my blog today! No way Blanco!
