Fire win, Chad Barrett’s 75 yard goal video
By: Tom | June 4th, 2007The Fire won, though it was not a very pretty game. Whilst I’m pleased we showed more creativity (hello, Willian Oliveira), actually scored from a corner (!) and Chad Barrett found the net again (think he was feeling Salas’ breath down his neck on that 75-yard run?), two goals were conceded once more. Statistics can lie, but the Crew had 18 shots to the Fire’s 12, and their goalkeeper one save to Matt Pickens’ seven.
On the other hand, we did score more goals than them, which is, after all, the aim of the game, and it was certainly nice to leave the stadium not cursing the team.
One other negative from the game: a paltry crowd of barely over 10,000 is concerning in the sense that one was not surprised to see the Fire’s still shiny new(ish) stadium less than half-empty.
Highlight of the game was undoubtedly Chad Barrett’s goal on a 75-yard breakaway, which can be seen in the below compilation of MLS’ goals of the week.
