Fire Toronto!
By: Tom | July 6th, 2007
Despite the dogged claims to the contrary from a certain commenter on my previous post, it’s now been officially announced that Juan Carlos Osorio will be the new Fire coach. It hasn’t been revealed exactly when he’ll take over, but we do know it won’t be by tomorrow, and Dennis Hamlett can thus keep steering this sinking ship across the rocks for one more game at least.
For all we know, this could also be the final game for the Fire under AEG ownership too: we know now that the Bonfman family are the second party interested in buying the team. That, along with the Klopas group.
Despite all the off-the-field distractions, the Fire will hopefully be focused on the field tomorrow: after the heated encounter between the Fire and Toronto earlier in the season, one hopes the players will come out with some energy. It’s not going to be easy. The Fire’s roster remains decimated, confidence must be at a low, and TFC have turned out to be a decent team.
All we can ask for is a spirited performance on and off the field. I’ll be back with pictures and a report after the game, which you can catch on FSC at 7.30pm.
