By: Tom | March 13th, 2007Whilst Luis Arroyave says talks are going well between the Fire and Cuauhtemoc Blanco, SoccerAmerica reports that Blanco and the Fire are unsurprisingly stuck on the issue of contract length for the 34 year old:
According to a source who has spoken to people involved in the negotiations, to get Blanco the Fire would have to pay him a salary of between $1.5 million and $2 million per season, and offer him better terms than a one-year contract plus an option. Blanco, who turned 34 in January, wants more than a single year guaranteed.

Fire defender Leonard Griffin has joined the Timbers. From the OSC:
Timbers have signed defender Leonard Griffin from Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire, it was announced today. The Timbers’ second-round draft pick in 2004, Griffin played in 18 matches over the last three seasons with the Fire.
