

Fire 2-1 Wizards
By: Tom | April 22nd, 2007It was not exhilarating, but it was dominance, even if MLS.net calls it “Razor thin” and the scoreline only reads 2-1. The Fire always looked like winning this game. If you want numbers, the Fire had fifteen shots to the Wizards seven. KC were rarely able to impose themselves on the game, with Eddie Johnson suggesting his great game last week was a mirage with a particularly headless performance.
Chris Rolfe was creative (an assist on Barrett’s well-taken finish for the first goal in the 36th minute, and scoring himself from the spot after Guerrero was pulled down in the 73rd), the midfield worked tirelessly, and the Fire have now started the season with two wins and a draw. The Wizards were lucky to grab a consolation goal from the penalty spot in the last minute.
