A Double Helping of KC

By: Tom | August 24th, 2007

Wednesday’s game against KC left me at an unusual loss for words. There was a lot of incident, from Blanco’s penalty miss to Segares’ sending off to KC’s comeback that left them 3-2 winners, but it was all hectic, garbled, and incoherent.

And I can’t make anything coherent of it. In fact, that rather matches how we played; when Blanco was creating, it was magic (except for the last ten minutes), but the rest of the team was very off and on. Rolfe went quiet after a busy start; Mapp flitted in and out; Wanchope still looks cumbersome. Barrett actually seemed to be doing a good job making the right runs at goal in the first half, and replacing him with the Costa Rican did not work very well. I never thought I’d type that.

Notabbott sums up the game well with his collection of running random thoughts on the game, so I suggest you go there for more.

At least we have a quick chance for revenge, as the Wizards come to town Saturday night. Expect Blanco and the crowd to be fired up. Let’s hope that new signing Wilman Conde is ready to go, because we’re awfully thin at the back already.
