Fire/Blanco “update”

By: Tom | March 30th, 2007

This blog is proud to bring you the latest Blanco update via Who Ate All the Cupcakes who got it from Sideline Views who themselves got it from this Spanish-language website.

Apparently, Blanco to the Fire is a done deal, except for the fact that they haven’t agreed on a salary, which means it’s not really done at all, and it doesn’t seem like there’s much new here to report. Even worse, Blanco wants to play in both the Gold Cup and the Copa America this summer, so we wouldn’t see him much in Chicago until late summer anyway (except for when he’s playing for Mexico in the Gold Cup at Soldier Field).

Still, MLS officials continue to hint there will be more Designated Player signings before April 15, so be sure next time there is fourth-hand news to report, this blog will be on the spot.

The Offside: Home of Fourth Hand information :-)

I hope they get the deal done so we can all move on to admiring Justin Mapp’s hair.

I guess I won’t get into Google News with this kind of effort then.
