SF was only closed for less than two years. I respectfully disagree that SF’s age was the cause (that said, I’ve never heard a good reason). OSF was good enough for the 1994 World Cup and for the Bears. While it was indeed aging, that didn’t stop places like the Cotton Bowl, the Rose Bowl, the LA Coliseum, Foxboro, RFK, Giants Stadium, and others from getting USMNT games during that period.

It is always a party when Brazil comes to town. Show up plenty early, Tom, so you can soak up the samba atmosphere. Nice to see the US play a big country too. I hope Brazil sends its big guns.

True, though Soldier Field was outdated/closed and being rebuilt for much of that time, too.

Just remember that despite the fact that USSF headquarters are here, Chicago did not host a USMNT game from something like 1993 until 2005 (US vs Poland, I think was the 2005 game). It seems that suddenly the taps have been opened.
