don’t it feel like something from a dream …
– The Waiting, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

Now, trust me, I’m not one of those people who bought into saving anything for marriage. Disney World sounds like hell to me – standing and waiting for some fun that’s around those 7 stainless-steel bends … ugh.

So, yeah, the waiting has been the hardest part in this McBride-to-Fire saga. Is there even an iota of surprise in the outcome? Barrett, a draft pick and some allocation money for McBride – I think virtually every pundit out there put that out there as a reasonable suggestion six weeks ago.

But that’s all PCBs into the reservoir now. Today’s a happy day – the Fire are unbeaten in five, the local hero is coming home, and all is right in the world. Lovely.

I had this lovely dream yesterday. In it, the most successful US striker ever decided that captaining and leading the line for a Premiership team was all well and good, but what he (and his family) really needed was ready access to Old Style brau and real deep-dish pizza.

In the dream, he joined a club already playing well. The club went on to win everything. The striker was covered in glory. Everyone celebrated with a pie and some Old Style.

In the real world, apparently, Frank Klopas is making it happen. Incredible. I’m struggling to hold onto my pessimism here.
